QuipSig is designed to change signature files for any Internet e-mail clients that use an ASCII/Text file for the signature. It also has the ability to write an Autosignature file for use in Outlook, in Rich Text Format. It chooses one tagline from the file at random and inserts it each time it is run.

QuipSig works with Eudora, Netscape Mail and News, News Xpress, Microsoft Mail and News, Outlook Express, Pegasus, and other mail clients.

QuipSig was written in Windows 95.

QuipSig gives you the ability to:
-- Add, remove or modify taglines in the database file.
-- Search by word or phrase for a particular tagline in the file.
-- Ability to modify and enable/disable misc text fields surrounding the quip as seen in the generated signature file.
-- Automatically change quip in signature file at timed intervals.
-- Automatically check for recently sent email message at timed intervals and then change quip in signature file.

Registered users have the following benefits:
-- Removal of Register Reminder screen.

-- Ability to use OneShot, which merely changes the tagline and shuts down again. Useful if you wish to only rarely change your quip, such as only when your computer is started.

-- Ability to modify startup status of QuipSig so that it starts minimized.

-- Unregistered version has a database file with 50 funny taglines; the registered version has 4,000.

Installation:

Run Setup.exe and follow all prompts.

New users Note:
Before running the program for the first time it is best if you make note of the path and filename of your Email client's signature file. The program requires this for proper operation and will ask for it when first run.
If you have not yet configured your Email program to use a signature file, I recommend you do that first. You can use Notepad to create a blank text file if you don't have one yet. There are detailed instructions in the help file included if you are not sure how to do this.
CAUTION: if you have a signature file already, QuipSig will overwrite it. Because of this I highly recommend you open your signature file in NotePad or some other editor before running QuipSig for the first time. Once you have the file open, run QuipSig and point it to the file. Then manually copy/paste from your original signature file into the QuipSig fields.

Upgrade users Note:
It is best to uninstall the previous version of QuipSig before you install the latest version. Before you do that, however, you should make a copy of your miscellaneous text fields file, called fields.dat. Copy it to a temporary directory somewhere, and after installation of the new version, copy it back over top of the one included with the new version.
Also, if you have a registered version of the quip file (quip.dat) or have made changes to the quip file that you wish to keep, you should do the same with it.
